John (Hisco) Hiscock
Sydney, NSW, Australia
Born in Sydney, Australia, photographer John ‘Hisco’ Hiscock is an individual of many contrasts: brash and sensitive; outspoken and shy; feisty and friendly; opinionated and reserved. Though something of a larrikin in his youth, he nurtured a fervent sense of national pride largely gleaned from writings by the likes of Henry Lawson and ‘The Banjo’—tales of our early settlers and bushrangers, deeds of sporting heroes and our glorious servicemen and women, all of whom contributed to the shaping of ‘the lucky country’ and made one proud to be called an Aussie.
